I was not prepared for this Hamilton when I bought it. I only had a short time with it, and it was much easier than I thought to form an opinion.

Hamilton has brought their dive collection into the fold. They emphasized their American heritage through design principles backed by the States.

With their Bel0w Zero, which utilized Art Deco 1920s design language. They accomplished this a few years ago. When it appeared on the wrist of the main character.

In the movie The Martian, this watch gained a second wave of popularity and marketability.

Legend has it that Ridley Scott and the prop master chose the Below Zero based on its design. When presented with the catalogue of recent Hamilton films.

Even in their catalogue. Hamilton uses a little different logo. Depending on which period of American design their timepieces are referencing.

In this instance, the Khaki Navy Scuba features its H logo. It is like the 1960s’ golden design era with its razor-sharp lines.

Seiko is the market leader in the dive watch industry outside of the Swatch Group. Thanks to its useful Tunas and traditional designs.

Talking about price, functionality, and, quality. Microbrands like Nodus are successfully embarrassing established competitors.

Hamilton beats the competition in design. Not necessarily in matters of cost or functionality.

In the case of this dive watch. Hamilton achieved this by using the Atomic and Space Age design languages of the 1950s and 1960s. While incorporating some contemporary details that aspire to other watches.

Dial and Date Wheel:

dial

The metallic finish of this dial does its task of being legible. It’s appealing to the wearer in a variety of lighting conditions well. This watch, with its mirror-finished handset and hour markers.

It sends out a sense of luxury and a jewellery factor that works well with the rest of the design of the tool watch.

It was a smart move to make the dial display as much information as possible. First, it gives the watch the appearance of a more serious timepiece.

The addition of 24-hour markers above the hour indices produces an unexpected result. Each second is divided into three segments by hash marks along the track.

This is how the date wheel at 4:30 is hidden and placed with elegance. Many watch enthusiasts had expressed their dislike for the 4:30 date window.

I don’t lightly use the word hate here. Even though every person I asked for impressions of the watch. They didn’t even notice the date wheel.

Enthusiasts have rather violent feelings toward this feature. This is yet another example of a vocal but small fan base. It does not necessarily represent the general public.

This is important because I stopped noticing the date window. After wearing it for about 20 minutes. I would only notice the window when I needed to remember the day.

On a whole, this watch goes the time-telling route. It presents as much information as possible. The information is shown in a logical and uncluttered manner, like a tool.

At the same time, it keeps jewellery-like features. Like the applied logo, that makes it appealing for times when one only wants to enjoy the finer things in life.

This watch’s hands are not only beautiful and easy to read. But they also make for an interesting case study on their own.

The Bezel :

The absence of a luminescent maker on the bezel pip at 12 o’clock is a glaring omission. I asked the owner of a watch brand how much a lumed bezel pip would cost the consumer.

He said somewhere around $25 on the higher end of the scale. I for one would gladly hand over an extra $25 from a lumed pip. As it was oddly absent. When I was out night photography on dark streets.

I do, But, comprehend the decision to forego the lumed pip and not include it.

Scuba’s intended customers are not watch enthusiasts. Not even those who intend to dive with watches. My friend took this watch for jumping and the absence of a lume pip was never an issue.

Who should buy this Watch?

KHAKI NAVY
FROGMAN AUTO

They are either people who are looking for a watch with this particular aesthetic. After finding they end up buying it. Otherwise, people who see it in a department store display case.

These customers do not have a passion for watches. They wear them as fashion accessories of which they are proud.

Not to be overlooked is the decision to go straight to Hamilton. Rather than a cheaper watch like an Invicta or a Daniel Wellington.

The price of this watch in Canada is $895, which is a significant sum. This watch is chosen by customers due to its perceived quality and level of luxury at this price point.

Additionally, they receive a robust and effective dive watch.

It was a joy to use the bezel. There was little playback and a strong click with each click. Any looseness in the bezel when turning it is known as playback.

Due to its low cost of replacement in the event. If it becomes damaged, the aluminium bezel insert is an excellent choice for a dive watch at this price point.

Sapphire and ceramic bezels can cost hundreds of dollars to buy. Not to mention the cost of replacing the insert for maintenance.

Additionally, the bezel is surprisingly functional. The finishing has a reflective quality and almost always catches the light. The silver or unfinished sections.

They are mostly covered in brilliant blue colour. that matches the dial’s colour and character, come to life.

Due to the reflective nature of the uncoloured section. It covers from 0 to 15 minutes on the bezel, there is almost no need for a lumed pip.

This was especially evident when observed while diving in low light. The unfinished sections of the bezel connect the dial and bezel to the case. While the blue sections of the bezel reflect the dial.

The Case:

case

At first look, Hamilton might use a standard design and move on to the next case. The brushing blends in beautifully with the bezel.

Plus the corners are finished with ease and in a way that feels good to the touch.

This case has a brushed finish. It does a great job of protecting against hairline scratches. The case creates a convincing impression of not only a tool.

But also a tool designed so that you can wear it in unfavourable conditions.

This watch is a design experiment. It strikes a balance between the aesthetics of a tool watch and a piece of jewellery.

This is evident in the dial and hands. As well as the brushed case and jewellery-inspired flourishes.

This wise blend of ways to deal with planning. It watch does not feel as though it is a watch of substance, but one that one would value.

Crown:

Your cherished watch will be protected by the crown guards. They are executed expertlyThey are perfectly proportioned and finished to match the rest of the watch.

They do not compete for your attention, but they do enhance the piece’s design strengths. The screw-down crown always felt safe, easy to use, and smooth.

The crown has the same H logo as the dial, which gives the watch a little more flair when looking at its profile.

The dimensions are ideal for a contemporary dive watch in every way. The crown-enclosed case measures a manageable 43 mm, while the bezel measures 40 mm.

The watch’s dial is very elegant and restrained at 31mm, and the watch as a whole is 13mm thick. This watch’s 50mm lug-to-lug length further enhances its wearability.

On a 6.75″ wrist the watch looked like a fantasy in all situations. Whether it was on the stock tie or somewhat more proper occasions with calfskin lashes.

Strap:

starp

The NATO-style nylon strap on this review example was of high quality. In particular, this watch had been heavily used by other reviewers.

Hamilton went to great lengths. They made sure that this strap lasts longer than a typical NATO-style strap. This strap was up to the challenge.

This is one of the advantages of first seeing the watch. When it was brand-new and then buying it for review after it had endured a very difficult few months.

A high-quality leather patch is stitched onto the strap. It reinforces the sizing holes, showing the utmost care for this particular component.

I could see that people with different wrist sizes wear this watch. But the sizing holes remained unharmed in any way.

The efforts made to extend the strap’s life on the sizing holes were admirable. But the results on the strap’s tip and tail were kind of mixed.

Through the metal keepers, the strap’s tip serves as a fastener and has a metal end to prevent fraying. My wrist size didn’t make this a problem, but it might be for others.

Some people will without a doubt have wrists that aren’t the right size. It will cause the metal tip to hang from the strap. This would either be between them or atop the second keeper.

The tip itself is not finished very well. It reflects the case’s brushed finish with perfection. Hamilton decided to use their entire logo. It features their entire name in a font inspired by Art Deco.

The logo on the crown and dial could have gone instead for consistency. Hamilton offers this watch on a bracelet or a rubber strap.

It’s for those who may not like the NATO-style strap or for those whose strap ends would not fit properly. I doubt anyone would take issue with the choice of the logo here, and neither would I.

This watch can also be used with aftermarket straps because of its 20mm lug size.

Movement:

This Hamilton is powered by the generally new H10 development. Due to a lower beat rate of 21,600 bph. In a comparison of the standard 28,800 bph found in movements like the ETA 2824.

The H10 has an 80-hour power reserve on a single barrel. This means that people wear this watch in a rotation. Along with a few other watches or only on weekday evenings.

They don’t have to worry about winding it or setting the date. But, the oversized second-hand states the fact that the second-hand does not move smoothly.

My eyes adjusted to the second-hand travel after wearing the watch for a few hours. I appreciated the trade-off for the increased power reserve. This specific watch was made with flawlessness.

When worn for routine tasks. It performed admirably, demonstrating the movement’s potential when controlled by the right hand.

During diving, the watch once a little hesitated before returning to its previous flawless performance. The Certina DS PH2000, which uses the same movement, is owned by a friend of mine.

While my friend’s watch did not fare as well when forced to endure the shocks of a jog, my watch did not hesitate. He didn’t go jogging while he was on vacation with his family.

He hiked the Scottish trails. That time he noticed that the watch wasn’t keeping time as well as it had when it was more relaxed.

This shows that watch accuracy is influenced by a lot more than a watch’s movement. Manufacturer variation, attention to regulation, and the mounting design of the movement on the case all play a role.

In the future, a lot of Swatch Group watches in this price range will follow this trend. This is not a bad thing based on my experience.

The performance of this budget-focused movement is admirable. Any physical activity that is more strenuous than a power walk. It will cause some inaccuracy in any mechanical watch.

Performance in the Water:

During diving, the only instance in which the watch’s performance suffered repeatedly. Fortunately, a weekend with many dives.

I noticed that the watch had gained anywhere from one to two seconds after each dive. After my first day of diving. I was diving in water that wasn’t too cold.

At the deepest point, they were approximately 12 degrees Celsius. From my previous experience with watches. This was not so cold to affect the development, exactness, and execution in such a way.

I reset the watch when I got back to my hotel. I put it in the refrigerator for two half-hour sessions at 5 degrees Celsius. Since the watch didn’t gain any time, it could only have been a shock.

I was somewhat surprised by this. As I had taken the watch for a run earlier, and its performance had not been affected.

The following day, I noticed that the watch consistently gained one to two seconds. After coming into contact with the water after each enormous stride off the boat.

Jumping off a boat into the water while wearing all your scuba diving gear is best done with a long stride.

My underwater camera was shielded from the impact of the water by my left hand with each massive step.

So, the Hamilton on my left wrist was directly affected by the water’s impact. Because your arms are always exposed during the huge step. There is almost no way to prevent this.

This effect on performance had never occurred to me before with any other quartz or mechanical watch.

So, I am unable to guarantee that this watch is suitable for diving, particularly for those who do so from boats. This may be a quirk that only my example showed.

Without the potential chance to test many instances of a similar watch. Every one of them not coming from the brand. I can’t resolve this regarding this development’s presentation. When exposed to jumping.

I can say, in any case, that this watch performed well. I wouldn’t hold back in prescribing a watch with this development. Somebody who will wear it during ordinary everyday undertakings.

Wear it during exercises that are more extreme and athletic. It could show to make a few issues. But I would in any case suggest this watch for the people who may at times run or plunge with the watch.

The screw-down crown served its purpose well. Also, the 100-meter water resistance proved to be good. It was more than adequate for recreational diving.

The dial, hands, and bezel were all legible. Their colour was as brilliant in shallower waters as it was at the surface.

The bezel design made it simple to operate while wet on the boat and while wearing 7mm gloves underwater.

The Wearability :

A watch with a very precise purpose is the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Auto. Although this watch is made by Hamilton. The company has not been well known for making dive watches.

Everyone said that it’s a great watch for the summer and should be on a boat. I must concur with them.

The luxury of having complete control over one’s leisure time. It is included in this watch, which represents a lazy afternoon.

As a result, the watch is very charming and calming to look at. Even though some people might not like the design. I liked this watch’s personality and had a great time using it.

Conclusion Hamilton Dive Watch:

This Hamilton was a very positive experience for me. It is a stunning watch with an excellent sense of direction. So, the design and proportions are flawlessly executed. It fits comfortably on the wrist.

Most importantly, it does so while establishing the personality. The image that Hamilton’s dive watch collection so needs. This piece is well-suited to the charm of American design from the mid-1960s.

It does a good job of linking to the rest of Hamilton’s collection. It also includes models from their renowned Ventura line, Jazzmasters, and American Classic.

Even though some of those models have direct descendants. From which their designs are derived. Hamilton has accomplished something uncommon in this price range.

Hamilton has been successful in establishing a new design legacy. Designs are based on prevalent and enduring design themes. This gives this brand its appeal and identity.

Over the past ten years, Hamilton has mastered the art of making its brand stand out from the crowd. It provides a unified and distinct product line.

Although they need to come up with a better name for this model like the Frogman. It is troubling given the long-standing Casio Frogman.

The addition of this Khaki Navy Scuba was a significant one. The often-overlooked milestone for the brand. This watch has established the brand’s reputation. The reputation in the important field of dive watches.

This is a watch that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone. If you are someone who likes the design. On the other, won’t wear it during strenuous athletic activities.

I applaud Hamilton for doing this. So I confidently recommend it.
