Cartier Santos

Cartier Santos

The Cartier Santos is a well-liked timepiece. It ranks among the brand’s most popular male models.

The Cartier Santos is both stylish and sporty, chic and casual at the same time. The watch has risen to the top of the wish list of many dapper men since it was updated two years ago.

There is even a steel version with a skeletonized dial at an outrageously high price. That’s a hit! Thus, what exactly is it about the Cartier Santos that makes it so enticing?

History of Cartier Santos

One of the most well-known collections under the Cartier brand is the Cartier Santos. It is also one of the Cartier watches that has been around for more than a century.

When Louis Cartier made a watch for his close friend. That friend was Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont, in 1904. Cartier Santos was born.

In 1911, the Cartier Santos bore the same design as its predecessor from 1904. It received its official name and debuted.

The style of the Cartier Santos has evolved. Including the Cartier Santos made in 1978 with a gold and steel bracelet.

Today, luxury watch models from Cartier Santos are available. They are available in a wide range of case materials and bracelet styles. So you can find the perfect timepiece for your accessories collection.

The modern Cartier Santos is characterized by many distinct features. The case material of a Cartier watch can be white gold, pink gold, steel, or yellow gold.

The Smartlink gold bracelet is wow. It is only one of many bracelet options available for the Cartier Santos. Some models even come with straps that can be swapped out.

You can choose a Cartier Santos with a simple design or one with features. Like brilliant-cut diamonds that add glitz and glamour.

Let’s take a look at some of the watches from Cartier Santos.

Cartier Santos De Cartier Large

Cartier Santos De Cartier Large

The iconic collection that started it all is the Cartier Santos. Let’s take a close look at a contemporary wristwatch made by Cartier Santos.

Case:

You can expect a larger case size for this watch based on the series’ names. This one has a case thickness of 9.38 millimetres. It has a diameter of 39.80 millimetres.

Making it very noticeable on the wrist for a square watch. Compared to the Santos du Cartier Medium models. This size is about 5mm larger.

The black ADLC-coated bezel is attached to the brushed stainless steel case with eight screws.

The polished bevelled edge of the rounded square case extends. It blends into the curve of the crown guards. Protecting the geometric crown that is crowned with a black lab-created spinel gemstone.

The case has a brushed finish. In keeping with the rest of the case, the fixed black bezel also has a brushed finish and a polished bevelled edge.

The case has a water resistance of 100 meters, 330 feet, and 10 bars. This is only enough for light poolside swimming.

The curved lugs at the top and bottom of the case. They blend almost flawlessly with the brushed linked bracelet’s links at either extreme.

On either side of each link, there is a screw that can be seen.

Dial:

The dial is satin-brushed dark grey. It has a railroad-style seconds and minutes track design. It’s around the perimeter of the dark grey, brushed inner dial.

It is probably the most well-known feature of this watch. A date window with a black background and white numbers for the day of the month is at the six o’clock position.

The smooth outer dial has white printed roman numerals. It has sword-shaped hands made of luminous materials. Plus small index-style markers at each of the five-minute intervals.

Movement:

The self-winding, in-house 1847 MC movement powers this watch. Automatic winding makes up this 23-jewel Manufacturer calibre.

It has a diameter of 25.6 mm, a frequency of 28,800 (4Hz), and a power reserve of 42 hours.

Strap:

The watch also comes with a soft black rubber strap and the steel bracelet that is shown here. Both of these straps have a steel folding (deployant) buckle.

A “SmartLink” system is the bracelet’s best feature. This innovative system lets you change the size of the bracelet. You can do so without using any tools by pushing a button in the back.

This releases the pin from its chamber and lets you remove links to change the size very quickly.

A “QuickSwitch” system can be found on both the steel bracelet and the rubber strap. It is like the “SmartLink” system that was mentioned earlier.

That it has a mechanical component built into the bracelet or strap. It lets you switch to any QuickSwitch-compatible Cartier strap. You can do so without having to use any tools.

There are also a few extra models in this collection. This comes in a variety of colours, materials, and strap styles.

There is also a model with a warm grey leather strap and a rose gold case. As well as a two-tone model with blue hands made of stainless steel and yellow gold.

Cartier Santos 100

Cartier Santos 100

When you visit another city, this is what happens when you walk into a jewellery store. You get a Cartier Santos 100 when you leave.

Design:

The Santos of 2018 has a familiar square shape with some new, subtle curves. While the hour markers in Roman numerals are still there.

Those blue hands shaped like swords are appropriate for Game of Thrones! I like that the medium-sized model doesn’t have a date problem as the larger model does.

It has dimensions of about 35 millimetres by 42 millimetres Also it slides under a shirt cuff with ease. It provides an interesting look.

The polished bezel looks great right now. But you’ll need to take care to keep it from getting scratched. Unless you think scratches add character!

Movement:

A Cartier calibre 1847 MC in-house movement with a 42-hour power reserve can be found inside. This can’t be confirmed yet because it hasn’t been off the wrist for a long.

But, there is no way to see this 23-jewel 4 Hz mechanism because of the solid case back.

Bracelet:

Beautiful is the bracelet. It is made of solid stainless steel. The links’ polished edges and brushed surfaces have a slight angle to them.

The bracelet can be adjusted to fit any wrist thanks to the “Smartlink” system.

Speaking of simple, even the clumsiest fingers or thumbs. They can use the “QuickSwitch” system. This allows switching from the bracelet to the included leather strap.

For this system to work, you will need to buy extra strap options from Cartier. If you are one of those people who like to change your bracelet straps often.

When I flew back home with my brand-new Cartier Santos 100. I wasn’t so much concerned about what my sister would say about “another watch.”

But rather about the possibility that she would want it. As the medium size makes a great unisex watch.

Conclusion

First of all, the Cartier Santos is a beautiful watch. It has nice curves and is masculine. This watch is also very adaptable and can be worn for formal events but unlike Calatrava.

It is not a typical dress watch. Like a Seamaster, it is sporty but not as casual. The straps that can be swapped out also make a big difference.

Moreover, there is internal movement. Additionally, it is affordable.

What makes it so well known Yet is its perseverance through the plan. The Cartier Santos that Louis Cartier first came up with more than a century ago.

It has very little in common with the modern-day version. Designed to be both useful and appealing at the same time. What more could a luxury watch possibly need?
