Ciga Design

Ciga Design

CIGA design watches are not only timekeepers like other watches. They are one-of-a-kind, stylish, and sleek watches designed to impress.

These watches are ideal for people who place a high value on two things. The form and function of the watches.

Due to their sophisticated design and cutting-edge technology. CIGA watches are sure to catch your eye, whether you’re a watch collector or like good design.

These watches are more than accessories. They also represent your taste and style.

Thus, look no further than CIGA watches if you want to stand out from the crowd and make a bold fashion statement.

There are many amazing choices on the market. But, the watches listed below are my absolute favourites.

CIGA Design Z Series

CIGA Design Z Series

People believe that Chinese watches are mass-produced. They are cheaply made and only use derivative designs. Not falling under that category are the CIGA watches.

A company that makes amazing watches. Their watches challenge the best of the Swiss producers’ attempts. You don’t have to believe me; they have received 17 design awards.

The CIGA Design Z Series watch, with its skeletonized tonneau shape case and movement. They received the German Design Award for 2020.

I’ve seen a lot of watches with skeletonized dials. But this one also has holes in the case that let the stem that connects the crown to the movement through. It has a neat design that makes it stand out.

Case

The very short lugs offset the 48mm length, but they may still be a little too big for the average watch collector.

I was disappointed that the crown guards do not line up with the crown. As they look like pushers for the chronograph. The case has a lot of unnecessary features that are the same.

For instance, the fake screws and the “Water Resistant 3 ATM” text on the back (hardly anything to brag about!) In any case, what’s more, “ALL Treated STEEL” (which I’d expect at this cost).

I thought the watch was a little too branded due to the Invicta-style text on the case side.

Dial and Hands

The principal highlight here is the skeleton dial. Through which the Seagull development can be noticed beating away at 21,600 bph.

I don’t like skeleton dials. But this one is better than any I’ve seen and has won a design award. So it wouldn’t be fair to criticize it!

I’ll leave the beauty of this watch to the eye of the beholder because you know if it works for you. But, I would like to point out a fundamental flaw in this kind of watch: legibility.

Strap and Buckle

The CIGA design Z Series offers a generous selection of two straps. A leather strap with a decorated crocodile pattern and a strap made of rubber.

I went straight to the rubber. As the leather one didn’t even come close to impressing me because it felt cheap and stiff. This rubber strap is just as good as the one that comes with the U series.

Although it has a different design. I like how the buckle’s rounded edges prevent friction damage over time. This makes it very comfortable.

The strap features a significant CIGA design, reviving the over-branding. This is also done by Breitling and other brands. But I don’t like it and would look for a high-quality Barton watch band to replace the strap.

Drawback

One drawback is that people with larger wrists might not like the CIGA Design Z Series Watch. The watch is very thin and light thanks to its 40mm diameter and 7.2mm thickness.

Still, this also means that people with larger wrists. They may find the strap uncomfortable to wear. The watch’s strap is fixed and cannot be adjusted. It may become a challenge for some individuals.

Before purchasing the CIGA Design Z Series Watch. It is important to consider this disadvantage if you have a larger wrist.

CIGA Design U Series Blue Planet

 U Series

Microbrand is well-known for being innovative. This is generally valid for Ciga watches. Established in 2012, this company is well-known for its unconventional designs.

For instance, we talked about their Z-series. A watch in which nearly every component is skeletonized.

If anything, the Ciga Design Series U Blue Planet Watch is even more unconventional. There are no hands on it! But once you understand how it works, it’s a useful and pretty watch.

It’s also a great way to start a conversation. What I thought about this watch is as follows:

Case and Development

You’re not accepting a Blue Planet watch for development. But you expect something half-fair for the asking cost. Although I was surprised to read. As the movement was only referred to as a “CIGA Design self-designed movement.”

It was clear that the majority of the people’s money will be spent on the beautiful dial. Using a movement made in another country.

It would go against CIGA Design’s proud Chinese heritage, so this choice makes sense.

According to the specifications, it has 30 jewels and a 40-hour power reserve. Along with that an accuracy of -15/+30 seconds per day. I’m not sure if this is an adaptation of a Seagull calibre or something new.

The titanium case has excellent finishing, tight tolerances, and excellent machine work. On top, you get a sapphire crystal with a decent anti-reflective coating. The mineral-glass display window is in the back.

Through the case back, you can see how well the movement is finished, and all the engraving is clear. The crown is particularly well-designed. As it is user-friendly and blends in with ease with the case’s curves.

Despite its 46mm size, the design’s curvature, lightweight titanium, and hidden lugs. All these make this watch very wearable even for fans with smaller wrists.

Dial

The dial of this watch doesn’t seem to be a watch dial by any means. At first glance, it resembles a fancy compass or piece of jewellery. , things begin to make sense when you look closer.

A small globe centred on the Indian Ocean occupies the majority of the dial. It has a slight dome that looks like the way the Earth curves. The landforms are silver, and the ocean is a deep, brilliant blue.

Even the texture of the land has changed, and mountain ranges have been built in the right places. A rose that looks like a compass is located between Madagascar and Antarctica.

Yet, it is only a single sign of the current time. You will be able to see both the hour and the minute with a single indicator.

This is what Ciga Designs does with a set of dual indices. The outer index has white markings on a black background and is located exactly inside the bezel.

This is the hour list, and every hour position is set apart with an Arabic numeral. Even a set of hashes exists, with shorter hashes at the fifteen-minute positions. The fine hashes at the five-minute positions.

The internal file is likewise white on dark, yet it shows minutes rather than hours. Hashes appear every minute, and Arabic numerals appear every five minutes.

The compass rose rotates to show the time, and the hour index is fixed. The minute index moves counterclockwise. The correct minute mark is always in front of the pointer because of this.

Hands

Okay, I guess the phrase “dial and hands” isn’t quite right for the CIGA Design Blue Planet. You can tell the time by rotating that stunningly. They made a micro-landscape dial instead of using your hands.

Read the hours and minutes across from the rotating inner ring and fixed hour ring of the star. It functions in a manner analogous to a sundial. But in the opposite direction, displaying the time by utilizing the planet’s rotations.

As seen from the perspective of the Far East. As opposed to the more common Western perspective with Great Britain at its centre.

It’s fun, quirky, and difficult to read the time. But that’s not the point: You are buying this watch to express yourself.

I simply think something stands out about how it looks. It is one of those watches that will draw in interest from outsiders – assuming that is your thing.

Strap and Clasp

The fluorine elastic lash is superb. It has quick-release pins. These are useful considering that the strap and watch are provided separately in the box.

It is soft, supple, and comfortable. The buckle isn’t all that exciting, but it works, which is all there is to say about buckles.

The strap is a deep sea blue, which is the same as the dial’s blue. It is made from fluorine rubber that is safe for food and is flexible and comfortable. I loved the lash and it felt much better on my wrist.

If a change were required, the lugless design would make it harder to do so. But, it appears to be quite durable, and it would need severe abuse to break.

Drawback

The Blue Planet only has a water resistance of 3 ATM, which is unfortunate. I’d love to see how the globe’s sapphire crystal looks when submerged, but not at the expense of the watch’s functionality.

Yet, the water obstruction is fitting for the plan. This is not a tool watch but rather a statement watch.

CIGA Design X Series

Design X Series

Like the Series Z before it, set a record for watch sales on IndieGoGo. Broken by the Series X before it. The Series X is now in full production after a successful crowdfunding campaign.

It’s easy to see why the Series X has done so well. Its cutting-edge looks are enamoring and the sticker cost is exceptionally aggressive.

The Series X’s case design has an overarching cyberpunk/skeleton theme. This makes it easy to determine if there’s more to it than meets the eye. The fact that the case consists of two parts is difficult to determine.

There is an external edge and an inside case, with the two parts connected by four screws at the sides of the case.

Four “shock absorbing” springs painted a striking red. This allows the internal case to move on its outside frame at these junctions.

Although it is difficult to determine how much of an impact this has on the movement’s accuracy. It improves the Series X watch’s cool factor.

Case

The case is made of steel. It has a matte black coating that I haven’t been able to determine whether it is PVD or DLC. These are the two most common types found in luxury watches.

But, it appears to be quite durable. Despite my careless use of the watch. I have yet to discover any areas where the shiny metal underneath has been exposed by the coating.

In general, the case has a lot of design details on both the front and back. There are too many to list here. Yet, the attention to detail has surprised me, and I’ve had a lot of fun looking at it up close.

The case’s various edges. For instance, are all chamfered and polished with the same black coating.

Additionally, the case’s orange accent parts are finished beautifully. Lastly, for a watch of this price, the crown is very complex.

Dial

The majority of the CIGA Design X Series watch’s dial. It has been completely hollowed out or skeletonized. This is to show off the CD-01 movement best.

The result is an X-shaped dial with a lot of Super-LumiNova lume, hence the name. This makes the watch face fun to look at in low light.

The hands at the centre are also lumed and made of contrast polished steel to aid in timekeeping.

Although the Series X may not be particularly legible. I find that the watch’s distinctive design compensates for this drawback. Regardless, I usually check my phone for the time.

Movement

The X Series movement is referred to by CIGA Design. It’s an “independently developed CD-01” movement.

It resembles a lot the Z Series’s movement to me; In that instance, the calibre was a custom Seagull ST2553JK.

Having said that, the CD-01 movement in Series X has been quite improved over the movement in Series Z.

In the X Series, the movement has been skeletonized. Even further modified only to be able to attach it to the distinctive X-shaped dial.

They have managed to remove quite a bit of the movement plates, which is quite surprising.

This allows excellent inspection of the movement’s inner workings. It’s possible from both the watch’s front and back.

When you look at the quality through the case back. You’ll also notice that the movement has taken a lot of time and effort to finish.

The edges of the plates are polished and sandblasted. The winding rotor is engraved for this X Series watch. The wheel and screws are also polished.

This CD-01 movement. In general, is quite sophisticated. According to me, It deserves to be called an original CIGA Design movement.

Box Set and Straps

Even though the X Series wristwatch itself is the main attraction of this show. I guess it is important to highlight the watch’s box set and accessory straps.

The presentation box set is very well made, like the watch. It’s a book that opens to reveal the watch’s head and two straps—one made of silicone and one made of fabric.

Each strap has its own branded tang buckles and quick-release spring bars.

The silicone strap was my favourite. Not only because I found it to be more comfortable. But also because I preferred the way the watch looked with its texture.

To put it simply, the Series X is a worthwhile addition to any collection for many reasons. These will come up next, but I’ll start with two of the only flaws I could find: the resistance to water (or lack thereof).

The CIGA Design X Series can only be used for hand washing up to 3ATM. Some of the photos in this review are taken at the beach, but I was unable to use the watch in the water.

I wish the X Series could swim because it resembles a sports watch so much. But, doing so would have without doubt raised the price and changed the case design.

Drawback

The limited functionality of the CIGA Design X Series watch is another disadvantage. Although it may have a sleek and stylish appearance.

It does not have the typical features of other watches in its price range. Such as a timer, stopwatch, or even a backlight. This can be a huge burden for the individuals who depend on their watch.
For something beyond saying what time it is. It may need extra highlights for wellness following, work, or different exercises.
